Nafees, Bashar dropped

Shahriar Nafees and Habibul Bashar have both been dropped from the ODI squad to take on Sri Lanka in the three game series later in the month. The exclusion of former national captain Bashar comes as no great surprise as he has been short of runs recently, in both forms of the game, and was lucky to make the cut for the third Test.

Prior to the World Cup Nafees had been the best Bangladeshi ODI batsman, notching up four centuries at a very healthy average of over 40. During the World Cup and subsequent games afterwards he has struggled for runs and a series of poor innings meant he was not selected for any of the games against India in May.

Mohammad Rafique will be missing from the action due to family commitments while Rajin Saleh, Khaled Mashud and Mohammad Sharif will all return to Bangladesh at the end of the third Test. Aftab Ahmed, Tamim Iqbal and Farhad Reza will come back into the squad while Mohammad Mahmudullah, a right arm fast medium bowler, receives his first international call up.

Bangladesh ODI squad: Mohammad Ashraful (c), Javed Omar, Tamim Iqbal, Aftab Ahmed, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mashrafe Mortaza, Syed Rasel, Abdur Razzak, Shahadat Hossain, Mohammad Rafique, Farhad Reza, Tushar Imran, and Mohammad Mahmudullah
