Mickey Arthur – New SAF Coach

Eastern Cape coach Mickey Arthur has been named to replace Ray Jennings as SAF’s new coach in a deal that will take him up to the end of World Cup 2007.

Current coach Ray Jennings six month contract expired after South Africa’a recent tour to the West Indies where the tourists won the test series 2-0 and the ODI series 5-0.

Mickey Arthur was a former opening batsman for Griqualand West and Free State. He started his coaching career at first-class level after retiring as a player four years ago.

Arthur’s first assignment will be in October when New Zealand tour South Africa.
