MacGill faces surgery

Out of form Australian spin bowler Stuart MacGill may elect to have surgery on his troublesome knee in a bid to save his career.

The feisty bowler has come under immense scrutiny after lackluster showings against Sri Lanka, earlier this month and it recently came to light that he has been suffering from a knee injury sustained during former coach John Buchanan’s boot camp preparations for the 2006/07 Ashes.

It is not clear yet whether the New South Welshman will have surgery to rectify the problem, a move that will rule him out of the series against India, or take his chances with the selection committee, already seen to be leaning towards either Brad Hogg or a fourth fast bowler to replace Shane Warne.
