Laxman fearing the dream is over

Indian batsman VVS Laxman fears his dream of playing in next years World Cup is over after being over-looked for India’s one-day leg of their tour of South Africa.

Laxman told news agency Reuters that “I was hoping to get a call as I thought I stood a good chance considering the team needed an experienced batsman at number three.”

“I am very keen to play in the World Cup. That’s a dream,” he added.

Laxman last played for India in August 2005 in a tri-series in Sri Lanka. He has played 85 one-day internationals and scored 2338 runs at an average of 31.17 with six hundreds.

India’s tour of South Africa starts on 16th November when they square off against South Africa ‘A’ in a limited overs fixture.
