Lawson makes Pakistan short list

The PCB has short-listed former Australian fast bowler Geoff Lawson as a possible replacement for the late Bob Woolmer as coach of Pakistan.

“It’s a significant challenge,” Lawson said.

“They’re an underachieving team with plenty of talent. I’m flattered I’ve even been invited I suppose. I certainly haven’t been chasing it. At short notice they asked me to come to Islamabad for an interview.”

Lawson joins fellow Australian Dav Whatmore and the ICC’s Richard Done as candidates for the job which was left vacant following the death of Bob Woolmer of a heart attack during the recent World Cup.

Lawson represented Australia in 46 Tests and 79 ODIs, taking 180 and 88 wickets respectively.
