Lara apologises to board

Brian Lara has sent a letter of apology to the WICB after criticising them during India’s recent tour.

Lara was unhappy with the selections made and the pitches prepared against the touring Indians, who recorded their first series victory in the Caribbean for 35 years. He had threatened to “revisit” his decision to lead the West Indies for a third spell, but the letter suggests he will remain captain.

In the letter he said he: “broke the confidence placed in me as West Indies captain by my overreaction during and after the fourth Test against India” and concluded by saying: “I hope my unfortunate actions will not in any way deter our march towards further success.”
