Injury worries for England

Michael Vaughan joins Kevin Pietersen on the list of English players, who could miss the first Test, because of injury.

Pietersen, almost a certainty for the first Ashes Test squad to be named on Thursday following a couple of vital innings in the ODIs, injured his groin during England’s eight-wicket loss to Australia during the third and final NatWest Challenge match.

Pietersen will undergo scans on the injured groin, following which his availability will be decided upon.

Vaughan, on the other hand, has had a resurfacing of his groin injury, after he missed a couple of games earlier in the season, during the NatWest Series.

As a precaution, he has been slated to miss all county cricket this week, including Yorkshire’s C&G Trophy quarter-final, against Northamptonshire on Saturday.
