“I want 900 Test wickets” says Murali

Muttiah Muralitharan has said he wants to continue playing for another four years and is aiming to retire with 900 Test wickets to his name.

Muralitharan has had an amazing year with the ball taking 90 wickets at an average of just 16.90 and is only 25 wickets behind Shane Warne who will only play two more Tests in his career.

Sri Lanka’s next Test series is against the bunnies of world cricket Bangladesh in July next year, followed by a three Test series against England.

Murali told The Sunday Telegraph “Four years is a long time and anything could happen. I am 34 and I hope to play until I am 38.”

“Records will come if you keep on playing. If they come, they come. Shane Warne holds it at the moment and good luck to him.”
