Harmison in doubt for Lord’s

English fast bowler, Steve Harmison, is in doubt for the first Test against India at Lord’s this week after suffering sustained hernia problems.

Harmison was due to have surgery on the problem later in the year, opting to play on through the pain against India, however it seems the region is worse than expected after aggravating it during a match for county side Durham late last week.

“Steve has aggravated the injury and is pretty sore. England have been informed. He has been bowling brilliantly for Durham, as he proved in our last Championship match against Surrey and these things can flare up,” said Durham coach Geoff Cook.

“There is no reason to suggest at the moment that surgery will need to be brought forward but all we can say is that we have to see how he is.”

Harmison discovered the hernia during the recent Test series against the West Indies, where he took 16 wickets at 34.25 in four matches.
