Hair stands in Canada

Darrell Hair is returning to umpire in international cricket, he will officiate during Holland’s tour of Canada.

Hair is no longer on the ICC’s Elite panel, he was voted off last November following the ball-tampering allegations against Pakistan. However, he is still under contract with the ICC until April of next year.

The Netherlands will play Canada in a four-day game followed by two ODIs. Hair’s partner is a Bermudan firefighter, he is a long way from Test cricket. He has not stood in a Test match since the incident last year, where Pakistan were docked five runs for ball-tampering, which they were later cleared of, and refused to take the field in response.

After his dismissal from the panel, Hair has claimed racial discrimination from the ICC has cost him his livelihood, and a hearing will take place on the matter in London in October.
