Gibbs & Kruger dropped

Herschelle Gibbs and Garnett Kruger have been dropped for the final two Test matches against New Zealand.

Gibbs has struggled with the bat in his past 10 Tests in only scoring 437 runs at an average of 25.70. In the first Test against New Zealand at Centurion Gibbs could only register scores of 6 and 2.

Haroon Lorgat, South Africa’s convenor of selectors said in Garnett Kruger’s case that he is being left out due to the outstanding performances of Makhaya Ntini and Dale Steyn in the first Test and having Andre Nel as cover is enough.

Lorgat confirmed that no replacements would be named. The 2nd Test starts at Cape Town on 27th April.
