Geraint in doubt for third Test

Geraint Jones is in doubt for the third Test against Pakistan at Headingley after fracturing the top of his right ring finger during the second Test.

The England selectors are expected to call Chris Read into the squad as cover should Geraint not recover in time, but Jones is likely to be given as much as possible to prove that his finger can handle the stresses of Test cricket.

Geraint had a good second Test with the gloves catching everything that went his way, but again failed with the bat only scoring eight. That failure meant he has only managed 72 runs at an average of 12 from England’s summer series against Sri Lanka and the first two Tests against Pakistan.
