Ganguly to return home next week

Indian captain Sourav Ganguly will return back to the country next week, following a one-month stint at English county Glamorgan.

Ganguly has been summoned by the new Indian coach Greg Chappell, to be a part of the on-going conditioning camp for established as well as potential players, ahead of the new season.

Ganguly, however, is most likely to miss the first four matches of the season, during India’s first assignment for the season – a triangular series in Sri Lanka starting July 30 – following a six-match suspension he received for being guilty of slow over-rate.

The Indian board has appealed against the ban, on the rejection of which Ganguly is likely to return back to Glamorgan, by the time for a four-day match starting July 21.

Ganguly’s performances at the county haven’t been up to the mark that can be expected of an overseas player, except for a brilliant hundred in a lost cause.
