The Battle of the Commentators

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
Its time...

Another day, another battle.

The chance for YOU to decide...

Which commentators have the gift of the gab and which are suffering from verbal diarrhoea

Before we start, we need a list of at least 32 commentators to take the field in this exciting battle.

Only commentators who have been nominated and seconded can take part.

Each member of CW can nominate 5 and second 5 other commentators.

Once we have at least 32 seconded commentators, we can get going on the vote.

Hmm, glad I suggested this battle only for someone else to run it :p

Anyway, Arlott, Johnners, Boycott, Benaud, FST, Laker, Bumble, Bannister

In the same way if Arlott doesnt Ill thow mine out.

As great as Benaud and Boycott have been they both became almost caricatures of themselves. Not a match for the real "Voice of Cricket"

As for Blofield, "Oh my dear old thing" please No :)

A few kiwis:

Jeremy Coney (seconded)
Martin Crowe (wish we could minus off his "He played that like a la la loo la daisy" thing"
Ian Smith (for our grouchy wicketkeeper)

Surprised Coney's been mentioned less TBH. He's a quality comentator
