The 90s and 00s banlisted draft thread

My favourite keeper of all time, and a criminally underused one at that - Jack Russell, by playing Stewart ahead of him we potentially lost 2 world class players.

****. Whatever. Did go back, but somehow missed that. Give me Younis Khan and if he's unavailable just give me ****ing Floyd Reifer.
****. Just remember who I had actually wanted to select. I was partially so irritated before becuase I'd thought of someone besides Gooch last night when I went to bed, but had forgotten who. Just remembered, but no way he'll last til my next selection.

GingerFurball is up.

In round six do not forget to vote on this question when you make your pick:

Should we have a 12th round in which players may drop one of their selected player and pick an unselected (but not banlisted) player as a replacement?

Na I dont think so. Katich is an awesome player. He will end up being one of the best openers to ever play for Australia.
Can't see it myself. Bloke's 34 already. He's a quality performer, but can think of two Aussie openers not yet picked who I'd have taken above him in a flash. Not that Katto being picked is a travesty or anything, just not who'd I'd have gone for so soon.

BTW, on openers, I've just noticed Boon is opening for the 90 banned list. Bit of a stretch to have Keg as an opener?

Anyway, can't not pick an opener now, really, so will go with Dessie Haynes.

1) DL Haynes
2)
3)
4) Mahela Jayawardene
5) MEK Hussey
6) AJ Stewart +
7)
8)
9)
10) Shoaib Ahktar
11)

EDIT: Anti the 12th round, myself. Half the fun is balancing the team.

I'll go for Harbhajan Singh. Surprised he's lasted this long with 337 wickets @ 30.

Ha! I thought Matt may have been thinking GKirsten. He was my next selection too.
Stephen, I was thinking Harby, but feel Saqlain is slighty better, tough choice though.

Yeah surprisingly there has been quite a number of very solid spinners over the last two decades.

Warne
Murali
Kumble
MacGill
Saqlain
Harbhajan

and a few others.

BTW, on openers, I've just noticed Boon is opening for the 90 banned list. Bit of a stretch to have Keg as an opener?
He was the tenth highest run scorer for the 90s and as opener (in 9 tests) he did extremely well, including averaging 61 against the WIndies at their peak over 6 tests. It is a bit of a stretch, but I like Boon ahead of any of the other openers from the 90s short of Gooch.

To be honest it was a pretty poor era for openers.

Blakus

State Vice-Captain
Had to check that he was still available and delighted that he is. Darren Gough to round out a fantastic pace attack.

And will also take Mark Taylor. Solid opener, fantastic slipper and arguably Australia's greatest captain.

With regards to the 12th round suggestion, am against that personally. I think the best way to solve the problem would be to post the round orders for the banned players at the start of the 9th round. Then we can grab what we need to ensure team balance.

I'll get my all-rounder sorted, a bloke who seems to have been forgotten somewhat nowadays, but he looked a real force in both disciplines on SA's 1994 tour up here:

Brian McMillan (& no)

1) DL Haynes
2)
3)
4) Mahela Jayawardene
5) MEK Hussey
6) AJ Stewart +
7) BM McMillan
8)
9)
10) Shoaib Ahktar

Between 2 here. Gonna gamble that my next option is available in Round 7.

Mark Waugh (yes)
