*Official* Sri Lanka Tour of South Africa 2019

S.Kennedy

International Vice-Captain
They spoke to Lewis after the game he said

"I'm not going to take responsibility for Vishwa's technique just yet".

Not sure if he's had a chance to do any actual work with these guys just yet. He's only been with them for a month or so.
When they start getting skittled for 70 you'll know Lewis is working his magic.

One side effect of this is that Rabada has now dropped to 3 in the rankings behind Cummins (new #1) and Anderson.

Borges

International Regular
Other side effects are: Sri Lanka will now stay head of Pakistan in the ICC rankings; New Zealand will become the #2 ranked team if they manage to beat Bangladesh 3-0

Finally got around to watching the highlights. Massive congrats to SL fans!

Might need a few days to digest that innings, and where it stands in terms of the ATG innings. Instinctively it feels like Astle's 222 vs. England, but in a universe Astle actually won that Test for NZ, instead of falling 90 runs short.

Reminded me heaps of that. Kusal and Astle both slogging their way to victory/near victory while the number 11 barely contributed a run in the partnership

Worried he'll go the same way as Senanayake, but he at least has his wrist spin variations to help him in ODI cricket, but in tests if his stock ball is compromised much that is a big deal.

The only moment where he had a lot of luck was a top edge off Rabada which went for six. Otherwise, almost everything came off the middle. Pretty incredible really, because most great 4th innings knocks like these need atleast 2/3 moments of good fortune like dropped catches or missed stumping or top odges falling in no man's land.

I kinda just meant slogging as in a lot of sixes. Astles innings was pretty flawless too iirc. Just middled everything

Nice little positive comment, I felt. True on the surprises cricket still throws at us with both WI-Eng series and the win for SL.

Regardless of the wins over India, Aus and Pakistan it is true that this last test in PE has become truly significant and could be a big test for this summer of SA cricket, anything but a resounding win could lead to big big questions.

Composition of the SA side is going to be very interesting. Does Mulder come in? What to do about KG/Olivier? Vern's fitness?
