Haddin masterclass surely. No one predicted, he's been out for some time.....

Gilchrist v Panesar translates to Haddin v Swann.

Just stay in your crease (unless your going down the pitch and hit him for 6).

Pitch is good and bowling is persistent rather than massively threatening

No reason why an in form player shouldnt score runs under these conditions which makes it even more of a crime to pick Clarke and North
Norff = scored a 100 last dig.
Clarke = lack of fitness, but was apparently ruled fit.

You may have a point, but I can see why the Aussies picked them. Worse then they picked Siddle and Hussey, but they've done good so far.

No way mate, their batsmen are way ahead of ours on form and confidence. We have big names that haven't been performing for a while, that's about it. In terms of batting, we're easily 5th in the world right now.
To say the least - Only 1 batsmen in the team that has averaged 50+ since1 Jan 2008.

etc. etc. etc.

Chennai alone has probably produced more exciting matches than Ashes "contests" of the last two decades, bearing in mind England have been competitive in all of two series in that timeframe.

Jealous Sri Lanka and India pass a trophy no one cares about around and insist on contesting it every other bloody month of the year.

North has failed in 8/9 past test innings - no form whatsoever

Evidence with Clarke was all too obvious from the time he chased his first ball yesterday

This makes me so angry. Get Ponting down the order, get Clarke out of there if he's unfit, get North out full stop, and Johnson and Hilfenhaus aswell.

You'd think with the very average performances by Australia in the last year or so that we'd see some changes. But no, the mediocrity remains. Furious.

Atleast it is a contest between top of the table teams :)
I wouldn't call Sri Lanka without Murali a "top of the table" team. Also prior to this English summer New Zealand were No. 2 in ODIs, The table can be misleading.

EDIT: At least in Sri Lanka's case it is. India is BY FAR the no. 1 Test team right now.

strange session. We bowled really well to everyone, except to hussey where we've been piss ****ing poor, which is an understatement.

Set up nicely

Great shot Hussey!

Disagree with Chappelli that this is the kind of pitch where "you're never quite in". Would say that it is definitely possible to build atleast couple of hundred run partnerships every innings.

Great afternoon by England, really shows this team has something about it. Need to get these 2 out after tea and hopefully finish them off.
