Disappointing to see the overnight pair fail to press on, same as yesterday, but with a long batting lineup and Kent only being 58 runs in arrears as I write, we should see it out for a draw. It is annoying how we tend to bat better in the second innings, and miss out on bonus points in the first.
...and two wickets go down quickly. Why do I write these things? I'm not posting in this thread again until the game is over!

Was there much in the pitch yesterday, or were Yorkshire just bowling good lines? I'm quite relieved that Gough isn't able to bowl today, he's been on top form so far this season.

Difficult to tell from my viewpoint, I'm afraid. They seemed to be bowling a good full length though. Partnership between Hall and Jones easily the highlight of the day. GOJ played some very nice shots off his legs, he seems to be finding his form again.

I caught the sun a bit as well, which I wasn't expecting when I saw the rain coming down yesterday morning.

They breed 'em tough up there. :)

Surrey are subsiding again, I see ... 132-5. Another innings defeat beckons, as does Division Two.

This is not at all what Essex want, we still have a lead of 200 runs but we need wickets.

Kent lost four wickets this morning, but at least they're only 20 behind. Batting for another session ought to see them to safety. Surrey, on the other hand would appear to have no chance of even making Worcs bat again.

Sussex win in the battle of the leg-spinning legends.

Davies seems to be the best Durham performer again. Always confuses me a bit, he does. His first-class record is infinietly superior to Durhams England trio. Yet he hardly seems to get a game. Is his figures hugely flattering, is he injury prone, or what?

" Darren Gough defied the specialists by returning to action with a broken hand, and claimed a wicket with his sixth delivery.

The evergreen paceman broke his bowling hand on Friday trying to stop a fierce drive from Kent's Ryan McLaren.

He was expected to be sidelined for up to a month but was back at Tunbridge Wells to tempt former England keeper Geraint Jones to edge to second slip.

I can post again now... Great rearguard action from Tredwell and Hall - really pleased to see Tredwell get his maiden first class century. Serves me right for complaining to my dad about him coming in at 4. After the pasting we've taken for the majority of this match, getting 4 points less than Yorkshire isn't a bad result.

Oooh, Durham and Surrey just about hang on for draws in their respective matches. They make Kent look like they survived with ease!

How was Gough able to bowl straight after lunch? Does that mean he was on the field throughout the morning? He only bowled 6 overs, so I assume he went off later.

And I'm shocked to see that Surrey survived. They lost their 9th wicket with more than an hour to go. But Nicholson, a man with two f-c 100s and an average of 20, is a useful player to have coming in last, and I imagine Worcester were just too tired by the end.

Essex doing pretty well here, 172/3 after 34 overs. Grant Flower has scored a run-a-ball half century.
