Word on the street is that lots of casual Aussie fans genuinely just don't rate him at all.

You're right. They'll never pick him.

Do the selectors forget the Taylor era when, though we often racked up big scores, it was built on the likes of Tub, Tugga and Boonie? Sure we'd often make 450-500, but we'd often be 250-300 at most day one, not blazing onto 350+ in the day. That came much, much later.

Edit: not saying Cowan is up to those blokes, who were all either great or exceptional. It's the approach I mean. Like the obsession with pace in the bowling.

Not just record, better bat. But yeah when you're averaging 10 less than Ben you're not much chance of passing the Rohrer test.

That fact not many guys currently pass the Rohrer test is a reason to keep them out of the Test team, not a reason to put them in it.

Think you'd be closer to the mark if you said that lost of Aussie fans just don't like him. No denying the bloke's an incredibly good batsman.
