Auction draft II - ODI

International Coach
Lehmann was my nomination, he's very under rated, yeah. Plan was to go for him this round and nominate and go for Dravid later. But someone else nominated Dravid this round itself, so I had to go for the keeper.
You have a lot of excellent bowling options.
Ah, I was the one who nominated Dravid lol.. Thought no one else would think of him as a keeper.

Whatever it takes!!!
Mail me my budget as well marc. Just want to see if it tallies with what I have.
me too..

Strange feeling to get Walsh.. but given he was my $1 bid, have to check up on my all rounder. :(

TEam Balance has gone for a walk now. Hate the idea of having Hadlee at 7, but what to do... gotta hope my bowlers do the job.

Awesome buy. I have the full range of options for team balance. I could easily select another bowler or bat. Spin bowling options are bare, I can fix that. Otherwise we play all home games in Perth circa 1997.

lol. The momen i saw Dravid nominated this round, i realised someone had the same idea as mine. i had to throw the kitchen sink at him in desperation or my masterplan would have gone horribly wrong. :p how much did you bid for him? mine was the top bid this round.

Certainly didn't bid as much as that for him lol. Somewhere just below a million or so I reckon.

All the nominated players are also added in the drafted list. I think marc does that every round.

When someone with 400 ODI wickets, a great strike rate and undoubtedly regarded by almost everyone as a country's best pace bowler comes in your team as the first change bowler, you have to feel awesome.

Team so far:
Sanath Jayasuriya (Devastating Opener, 5th Bowler Spin)
Gary Kirsten (Opening Batsman)
Michael Bevan (Star Middle-order)
Steve Waugh (Middle-order, 5th Bowler Pace, Captain)
Mark Boucher (Star Wicketkeeper, Lower-order Hitter)
Shaun Pollock (Star Opening Bowler, Lower-order Hitter)
Chaminda Vaas (First Change Bowler)
Anil Kumble (Spin Bowler)

Drinks and Towels Carriers:
Hrishikesh Kanitkar ($1)
Prosper Utseya ($2)

My team so far-

Sunil Gavaskar
Chris Gayle
Michael Clarke
Kevin Pietersen
Greg Chappell
Mohinder Amarnath
Brad Haddin
Andrew Flintoff
Daniel Vettori

Reserves

1) T Chappell

Pretty happy with my team. Almost all my batters are decent to good bowlers and my bowlers are decent to good batsmen , Perfect for limited over circket.

I can also bring Trevor Chappell in from the reserves if the need be who has a strike rate of 38.7 with the ball and a average of 28 ,better than many of the specialist bowlers .

Not the best idea to read into the statistics of Trevor Chappell. He was as dibbly-dobbler medium pace as they come. Would be completely out of place in the modern ODI game (where most player selected in this draft have come from).

Think James Hopes style bowler, just take away 10km's, less accuracy and a bigger haircut.

But hey, he is only a reseve. So big win for you if you can keep him out of your starting XI.

Ian harvey/chris harris were reasonably successful in the modern game.I am sure i am forgetting others too.

That said at the moment i do not intend to being in chappell into the team in any case and was just going by averages (whi i do not normally do) to in a way make a point because some others have been concentrating too much on averages.

Actually managed to send my bids in this time - though doubt I'll get a player that really suits my team's balance, especially with even reduced budget to play with.
