Auction draft II - ODI

pskov

International 12th Man
Really hope I got one of McGrath, Lillee or Garner. Not too bothered which one of the three really, any of those would round out a tremendous attack.

Well he cost a bit, but well worth it in my opinion:

1. Adam Gilchrist
2.
3.
4. Mohammed Yousuf
5.
6.
7. Ian Botham
8.
9. Shane Bond
10. Michael Holding
11. Glenn McGrath

12. D. Patel $2
13.

Noble One

International Vice-Captain
1. Graeme Smith (149 ODI, 5613 Runs @ 40.67)
2. Stephen Fleming (280 ODI, 8037 Runs @ 32.40)
3.
4.
5.
6. Brendan McCullum (171 ODI, 3569 Runs @ 29.01, 189 Ctch, 13 Stmp)
7. Lance Klusener (171 ODI, 3576 Runs @ 41.10, 192 Wickets @ 29.95)

10.
11.

12.
13. Pommie Mbangwa (29 ODI, 34 Runs @ 4.85, 11 Wickets @ 103.63)

Mission achieved, $52 spent on Pommie. Finances are now back on target, and my First XI is still awesome.

Blakus

Honestly don't know what to make of getting Parore. I'll just have to play Dhoni as a specialist bat

4.M.Dhoni
5.G.Thorpe
6.
7.K.Dev
8.A.Parore
9.A.Agarkar

12.H.Modi

High value round - I didn't make a single bid over $1million so interesting to see 6 of the players go for well over that mark. Shastri's not the worst player either though and at least I'm still avoiding the muppets.

Steve Waugh is a great acquisition, and adds to the balance of my team. In Waugh, I get a batting all-rounder who bowls medium pace. I wanted a combination of pace and spin for my 5th bowling option, so that my bowling attack is suitable for all pitch and opponent types- and the combination of Jayasuriya and Waugh is just perfect. More so because they both add so much value to the batting line-up. Not to forget that Waugh is one among the very few champion captains who has the experience of leading champion sides.

Team so far:
Sanath Jayasuriya
Gary Kirsten
Steve Waugh
Mark Boucher
Shaun Pollock
Anil Kumble

Drinks and Towels:
Prosper Utseya ($2)

Ha ha, round 8 is going to be fun like round 6. Though I haven't nominated even 1 dud thus far (and won't nominate one in the near future), but I like when many duds and 'almost duds' are nominated together.

Disappointed I didn't get one of McGrath, Garner or Lillee, although looking at the highest bids it's obvious I wasn't even close to getting them. Atleast the batting looks solid now, might take a call on swapping Watson and Waugh at some point. I've also managed to bag a ridiculous number of batsmen who can roll their arm over quite effectively. As things stand, Harper and Lee are the only 'specialists' in the team.

Virender Sehwag (RHB, 34.25 @ 103.51, ROB, 41.45 @ 47)
Shane Watson (RHB, 40.64 @ 84.29, RFM, 27.87 @ 34.4)
Vivian Richards (RHB, 47 @ 90.20, RAS, 35.83 @ 47.80)
Mark Waugh (RHB, 39.35 @ 76.9, RM, ROB, 34.56 @ 43.3)

Chris Cairns (RHB, 29.46 @ 84.26, RFM, 32.80 @ 40.6)

Brett Lee (RHB, 16.30 @ 80.44, RF, 23 @ 29.2)
Roger Harper (RHB, 16.13 @ 73.58, ROB, 34.31 @ 51.7)

Not going to deliberately go after another bowler as I think my first four is excellent and doesn't need any reinforcing at all. If I do keep Kemp in the side then he is probably handy enough as a 5th bowler with probably a spinning part-timer chipping in, otherwise if Kemp is dropped for a better batting option then I need two part-time options from my remaining picks probably. Kanhai will probably keep wicket unless I pick up a keeper who can either open or bat at 7 better than Kemp.

I'm not sure what your budget is like, but thats an awesome lineup at the moment. Four bowlers of the highest class, Lara, Kanhai, and a useful enough ODI player in Kemp already - looking very solid.
