Imagine thinking it's difficult on Marcus Harris after 15 odd matches to prove he isn't mediocre.

Frankly this "Maxwell should be in the Test team" talk has been a myth for a couple of years. I agree that he was absurdly unlucky to be snubbed for that UAE tour, but since then he has barely played much Shield cricket even, yet people still seem to think the selectors should pick him anyway

Well yeah.

At this point it probably has been too long since he even really thought about red ball cricket to entertain it, but I still reckon if he'd been recalled 12-18 months ago on the back of little Shield cricket he'd have been far more likely to perform than Wade or Head at that time, especially if you gave him a series or two to get back into the swing of things.

I absolutely agree that people should have to prove themselves as good red ball players before they're picked in Test cricket but I don't really agree with this notion that players have to have been playing heaps of it recently to get the call-up. Beggars can't be choosers when ****ing Wade is playing.

Does anyone actually have any idea what side England will rock up with tomorrow? Surely Stokes has to be out, and Bairstow too since apparently his thumb is genuinely fractured. You can't be taking injuries of that level into a game regardless of how well they did Day 5. Hameed is surely done too.

Reckon Stokes will play as a specialist bat. Hameed definitely gone, so Burns gets a Hail Mary recall, Robinson probably back for Jimmeh or more likely Wood, Woakes to replace Leach to compensate for no Stokes the bowler, Pope for Jonny Red if he's busted and Billings the now obligatory random 5th Ashes test debutant.

So:

Burns
Crawley
Malan
Root*
Stokes
Pope
Billings+
Woakes
Robinson
Broad
Anderson
