Saker rates attack as good as great Australians

Like that other non-great who averaged 25.4... Shane Warne?

    *Official* Road to 2013 Ashes

I think unlike the last series the Australian bowlers are good enough to put pressure on the English batting line-up. But I just can't see the current Australian line-up scoring runs against the English bowling. If they all played a 5-test series against England in English conditions, what...

At least you shouldn't have any problem with players being selected twice....

    The ATG World XI's game

At test level he was often only the second or third leggie in the team, behind Intikhab and Wasim Raja, despite having a much better average than both. But he did bowl the best part of 8000 overs in his first class career, only slightly fewer than Mankad.

Best all time XI for each country

V good. Add Shane Thomson (admittedly, he was bowling pies either way) and Karson Ghavri to the subs list. Taibu also once took a five-for (in an ODI even, I think?)....

    The ATG World XI's game

Dempster Hunte Hassett Bland Hussey still not happy at the Wardle exclusion, he could bat at no.8 too. Given the make-up of the side, Mushtaq Mohammed must be a shoo-in for the number 6 position unless there's still a very good batting keeper around... has Macartney been picked yet?

    CW All-Time XI

Bob Cowper is the opening bat you need - has a surprisingly good bowling average. And surely the keeper has to be Timmy Zoehrer just in case the other 10 guys can't get a wicket....8-)

    Arguably England's greatest wicketkeeper-batsman

To me Knott is in front by a long, long way, though I confess I don't know much about Ames's keeping. And why is Prior not considered in this list of batting keepers - better batting stats (down the order when keeping) than any of them, and his keeping has become decent enough hasn't it...

Name that player - Honour code applies

I thought Crowe but didn't think he used a GM bat... didn't he have a County or something for a while?

    The ATG World XI's game

Always a small shadow over him because he got away with throwing his quicker ones for a disturbingly long time. I know he cleared it up after he saw video of himself "bowling". And his figures are hugely improved thanks to the woeful kiwi tourists of 1958 who just didn't have a clue on wet...

    The ATG World XI's game

My computer has been in the shop getting fixed so this is the first I've seen of this thread. My initial thought on looking at the players available for selection is how the hell is Wardle still on the market? I think I'm right in saying he has the second lowest average of any spinner who...

Is the one with the bowling action Abdul Qadir?

Things you used to get in old-time cricket ...

Batsmen being given out lbw, and you know, walking off.... Going back further, wickets falling accompanied by a gentle appeal or celebration, the bowler stopping before walking down to meet his teammates, also walking up to him. One or two teammates might perhaps shake the bowler's hand or...

**Official** Road to New Zealand in the West Indies 2012

It's going to be interesting to see what line NZC take on Ryder. Is he a "starter if he's fit and up for it" or does he have to prove himself somehow by scoring runs? If the latter, then he's going to miss a lot of tests. I wonder if he could just take off and leave his crap behind by maybe...

**Official** Road to New Zealand in the West Indies 2012

Do we know where the tests are and what those pitches are like? I'm assuming they'll be more likely to be slow turners than seam bowlers' delights. I'd expect a 3-seamer + 1-spinner + Vettori model for the final 11, so Nethula for Boult in Flem's team (and maybe Watling for Flynn as opener...

***Official*** South Africa in New Zealand 2012

I can't believe this situation with low catches... we all know the tv pictures never show anything conclusive, so why not leave it with the onfield umpires.
