  • Hey mate. All good over here! Hope all's good over there.

Dont really use Facebook much, not sure how comfortable I am with having my real name attached to **** I say online. But happy to share details. Musicisnotatoy at gmail.com would be the best one.

@Friedman conference, still thinking about it :p What sort of discount are we talking?
All good man, my bad! Most of the podcast stuff is regarding NZ cricket so I'll just keep it to that thread up until the World Cup. Cheers!
No worries, I'll check out the day passes and let you know.

I work/live around Parramatta and end up in that area 9 days out of 10 so not far away.
Haha. I'll have a think about it. Might struggle to get work off for the first two days but will have a think.

Would be happy to meet up for a chat sometime regardless. You're Western Sydney based right?
I haven't read the book either tbh. Just watched a few videos.

He definitely thinks JP is controlled opposition for conservatism, though he references control by globalists rather than satan. I suppose that's a distinction without a difference to him tbf. I don't know about a full blown conspiracy, but watching a very moderate performance and seeing him change his tune on a couple of issues kind of made the punch land in a way I didn't expect. There were other criticisms about him not knowing a thing about the bible, postmodernism and philosophy that could have come straight from hendrix.

I certainly don't regret listening to him (JP). He helped me clarify some thoughts I had around spirituality, God and consciousness in addition to the garden variety free speech stuff. And hey, if I needed to agree with every word someone said to get value out of them I wouldn't have gone near Vox Day :p
It all sort of came together during the course of a few days, and I've noticed that I'm a bit more sceptical of Peterson as a result.

On the whole I think the talk was moderated for a more mainstream audience and considering Peterson's history I felt a little disappointed despite having an enjoyable couple of hours.

    Damn visitor message characterlimit!
It was, ok. It was certainly a talk on the more moderate end of the JP spectrum. More the psychology of meaning and less of the anti-radical marxist/pro free speech stuff.

It's weird though, I'd recently read/watched some of Vox Day's criticisms of him and while I don't have much time for the "he's an anti-christ trying to keep young men from Christianity" angle, I was struck by how much of his criticism mirrored what I'd heard from some on here and the more sophisticated criticism of him generally. Specifically "he's feeding the audience nice sounding but ultimately meaningless tripe that the listener subsequently overlays with their own meanings". He made pretty unspecific/broad appeals to "being good" (something he'd traditionally shied away from), he was reasonably pro anti-psychotic drugs (something he'd previously said were over prescribed) and he mentioned "good government" as a vital part of civil society (something I'm not particularly receptive to in general).
Why close the thread though? It didn't breach any rules. It's not against policy to discuss terrible communist figures.
Your knowledge on cricket is vast and brilliant. I am a Sri Lankan btw, We seem to have an undivided opinion on Dhanushka Gunathilike. It's refreshing to see someone knowing lesser known players such as Chameera, Dhanushka etc and make comments about them. Seems like you have been here for 15 years plus. My whole life btw has been only 21 years.
Ok. I just asked because I'm extremely excited about Andrew Yang but feeling very sad that he's being completely ignored by mainstream media everywhere - so just trying to see which groups may extend their support ;)
Well I've crashed it for you in a hurry now, enjoy your Friday beer. Oh for a steady supply of silent partners who'd just let us get in their names sometimes eh. A dodgy old NZ coot (@smartgolfbets) burnt through eight friends/relatives with 365 he says, moved to Uganda and Kenya to find more friends.
