3rd Test (Lord’s) - 10 July to 14 July

Ultimately, he's not been good enough, but it's hard not to feel for Nair, he looked like a man who knew he was on his last chance last night, I assume Sai Sudharsan just slots in for him. If India just keep their heads, this series is very much there for the taking, Jaiswal and Gill will come in for some criticism after yesterday evening, but they've been two of India's best players this series, and again the bowling looked strong
India are done. England will beat us by innings & 500 runs. We are **** team worse then bangladesh😟

Bethell should come in for Crawley
Atkinson for Woakes

Duckett
Stokes
Bethell
Root
Brook
Pope
Smith
Dawson?
Atkinson
Carse
Archer
Could potentially be an even funnier batting lineup if Woakes plays instead of Archer (I know his batting has declined of late, but he still averages 25 at Test level), but any lineup with Carse at 10 and Archer at 11 is very funny

If the Indian team kept that mindset, they would be more than halfway to a 4-1 defeat. We have to remember that neither side was clinical in their performance. It has nothing to do with talent or ability to perform overseas (although different conditions add to the pressure). A lot of India's shortcomings were sort of the low hanging fruit of playing test cricket, such as a few dropped catches here and there, poor run out opportunities given, failure to maintain the momentum with the bat, etc. There are still plenty of positives for them, particularly with their bowling performance.

Another thing is that England will have to watch out for complacency. Being 2-1 up in the series can be a double edged sword at times. On the one hand, it gives you a massive advantage with the need to only win 1 more game to have the trophy in the bag. But it can also be a motivation for the other side to fight back and come from behind to win it, or at least get a series draw. The Aussies found this out the hard way 2 years back, for example.

I still believe we have some great test cricket to come. Anyways, it would be a disservice to this already brilliant performance by India and England if we were to predict a one sided affair going forward.

On Nair, he's had three Tests where others around him have scored by the bucketload so it's hard to feel too sorry for him. May be that his reflexes for this level simply aren't what they might've been eight years ago. It has certainly been borne out in his hesitant footwork to good length bowling.

This could easily be 3-0 to India, it's a big blow to lose a close game like this, especially when India would have been pretty big favourites at the start of the 4th innings, but if they keep doing what they are doing, they have every chance of winning this series still

If Gus Atkinson is fit by next match, he could be given a go. Sorry to say, but Chris Woakes is just about done. Not getting much rhythm with the ball, and just about useless with the bat.
when just about every hair follicle on your scalp is turning a shade of grey, it's probably nearly time for retirement

Atkinson, despite being firmly fast-medium for a while now, seems to be lumped in with the likes of Carse, Tongue, Overton and even Archer in the ‘fast’ category by Baz, Woakes seems to be leading a separate queue of 2 in the ‘fast-medium/medium-fast’ category with Cook just behind, plus they seem to be treating him as the batter he was a few years ago rather than the one he is now, I just don’t think England willingly drop Woakes

Atkinson was bowling around 94 in a Hundred game, got called up for Tests and dropped around 10mph. Still started impressively.

Not sure I fully trust the Hundred speed guns, but he was pretty quick when he first started in Test cricket, he had slowed down by the middle of the Sri Lanka series, I thought he could have done with a break for the final Test (he had played 4 in a row), but that was never going to happen with that Test being at the Oval, and he’s not really got back up to those speeds since

THE ULTIMATE TRUTH

These fellows have some serious mental issues. They badly need sports psychologists. Just look at the World Cup final in your own backyard: timid and frightened. Only Pant, Bumrah, or Jaiswal look Australian in this team. The rest are sheeps. Nitish Reddy looks like a tailender with the bat—subdued and terrified.

Many of them simply lack the mental toughness required for competitive sports. No shortage of talent, but psychological issues. Just facts.

If Pope isn't good enough to bat in the top order then drop him.Don't change Stokes position to cover for Pope.He can compete with the other middle order batsman and if he isn't as good as them then he shouldn't play.England need to find another opener.

It’s just what batting with the tail is like though. People are getting on like he’s the first batsman to ever face boundary riders with a 10 and 11 at the other end. With Bumrah and Siraj sticking around for 80 balls or so, even scoring at 3 an over would have won them the game.

What really stood out was that running 2s weren’t a part of the strategy at all. Almost any good match winning innings with the tail involves a lot of knocking it into the gaps and trying to push hard for 2. It’s how you punish that field.
He tried to run a few 2s but Bumrah wasn't willing. All the boundary riders were in by about 10 yards to cut that off as well.

There's no right answer to this situation. His approach added 68 runs with Bumrah and Siraj. That's basically unheard of. Extremely odd thing to criticise
