Says a lot when you start to feel sorry for Alan Pardew and then you realise it is Alan Pardew and it soon goes.

Newcastle are a strange club though, fought hard to keep Cabaye, now in January when they have a decent chance of qualifying for europe they are going to sell him a couple of days before the window shuts.

Think PSG just met the asking prince to be honest. They have made it quite clear they don't want to get into the Europa league though, Ashley is quite happy for them to be mid-table mediocrity and nothing more.

Yeah their season's over. Great deal for both parties I reckon. Newcastle get another six months to deal with losing him and a decent payoff. PSG get a player everyone knows is pretty good, in a position where they could improve, and who's still eligible for the CL knockout rounds. And they don't need to worry much about him settling either.

It's a difficult one to judge atm considering we don't know the fee yet, but I'd imagine we'd been asking for about 20 million and they met it. He's worth much more than that to us in terms of the current financial climate but what can you do? Cabaye has obviously shown signs of discontent in the past, and was probably pretty desperate to move to a Champions League team at this stage in his career. We've also shown signs that we're willing to go in relatively big for a decent replacement but not one that covers losing your best player. Ultimately it's probably a decision that is good for the owners/club but not for the fans.

How long do you reckon it would be before you got bored of punching Michael Owen in the face?

I'm going for at least 5 years.

Unfortunate pic the BBC have put up for the Liverpool/Everton game:

Brendan Rodgers obviously doing his best Suarez impression.
