South Africa the only real impressive one out of those. Australia and England happened ages ago, hard to talk about those.

But when you say Crap away it includes everyone, not just 2 teams. If you are doing well against everyone at home and everyone barring 2 teams away(one was far off),then you are doing pretty well. Not different than other teams struggling in India and 1/2 other countries and doing well everywhere else.

Then how does one judge India to be crap away then? If you don't include England in 07 and Australia in 07/08, SA and NZ are the only times they played away from the subcontinent whilst number 1 (along with the West Indies which I forgot to add). They didn't lose any of those series.
Losing to England, even 4-0 doesn't make them crap away. They were just belted by the much better team, and played like crap. But to say they are crap away from the subcontinent is an overstatement.

New Zealand.
Should be easybeats on paper, but South Africa can't seem to win series cleanly, and New Zealand's success in Australia should give them some momentum boost.

Ok England will most definitely beat West Indies at home.
They should also beat South Africa at home this summer if they play as well as they have been at home.
About the overseas tours in Sri Lanka - they should win this too because Sri Lanka does not have a great bowling attack.
About the overseas tour in India - this will be hard and they will most likely lose this.
So I still see England remaining in the Top 1-2 positions for the next 1 year.
They should also beat South Africa at home this summer if they play as well as they have been at home.

You're all just warming our seat. You can tell by the way the fans yap it up and the England and Indian players strut around - being number one sits poorly with anyone but Australia, because the rest of the test playing countries are more comfortable in their natural state of mediocrity.
You only have to read the posts of the Indian then English supporters of the past year to 18 months. "We (india) can't be beaten at home"; "that team are good, but not England good".
Ffs it's hilarious. Give the title back to the nation with whom it rightly rests most comfortably, Australia. Between the two of you, there's been one "dynasty" since WW2 - England in the 50s (no coincidence the era regarded as the most tedious in test history).

The battle for number 1. right now is like the Republican presidential race in USA right now.
South Africa are like Mitt Romney who though has his own flaws, will eventually rise to the top once everyone has their chance and sunk by being relatively consistent everywhere.
England is like Newt Gingrich who goes up and down again and again,screwing his chances to stay at no. 1 for a good duration himself. Quite unlikable too.
India is like Rick Perry. Had everything going for him and was on top but somehow has managed to self destruct completely due to dumbness.
Pakistan are loke Ron Paul with enthusiastic support and lot of cynics, who is a Wildcard factor which may take others down.
Australia are like Rick Santorum who thought he was down and out after taking beatings, but realized later all others were equally **** and then that he had actually not done too badly himself. Now wants to take Gingrich on after slugging it out with Romney for a while.
The rest while not in race are relative spoilers for others with Newzealand(Herman Cain), West Indies(John Huntsman),Srilanka(Michele Bachman) leading the pack.....

how the hell are the kiwis like cain? we aren't even close to our peak yet.
if anything india should be like cain cos they were at the top once but are now completely out of the race
