Sri Lanka did this hiding players gimmick at the WC as well and look how that turned out (Not sure if that's what they're doing here, though).

How about Kiwi pitches? Even pathetic Kiwi batting lineup chased down scores over 340
they do not happen too often.. being a bowler, I love bowlers getting wickets...

In subcontinent..except for spinners...fast bowlers struggle to get wickets on these cement roads

You are totally wrong. In Dambulla and Kandy, it swings so much, that fast bowlers are the strike bowlers. If you cannot control swing there, yes, you are in for a pasting.

Wickets have been **** flat in recent times. Blames Aussies for it.Their pitches were ridiculously flat since mid 1990s. Then India and Pakistan adopted it. There only one country that bowlers dominate the batsmen in ODIs. That is in SL. In NZ, SAF, and ENG there are times that pace bowlers own the batting. But there are very few placers where it both helps fast bowlers and spinners alike.

That's a flaw in one-day cricket IMO. A good test match wicket can have something for the pacemen and the ball coming onto the bat for the first few days then break up for the spinners on days four and five. ODIs generally favour one or the other, and often neither.

India gets into the final

the positive from this game was that the top 6 got to spend some time in the middle, which should auger well for the final

I m going to do some constructive criticism though. Raina needs to try to settle down first rather then go after the bowling from ball one. he was lucky that guy dropped a straight forward chance .... the way he is batting early on in his innings, i would be tempted to bat him little lower down the order. though once he settled down, he played beautifully

it was nice to see Dhoni bat up the order. may be he promoted himself so that he, along with Raina, could take on his IPL team buddy, Murali

the bowlers did an acceptable job of restricting SL to 300 odd. But whats disheartening is the fact that SL got those runs with little contribution from Sanga and Jayasuriya. the final would be tough if these two fire with the backing of a full strength SL bowling

Good stuff for India, but the weakness in Pathan's bowling is a massive area of concern for the team.

How did India and Sri Lanka get 6 points each? Something to do with bonus points or did they carry points from the last stage?

I was a bit puzzled by this also. I think the earlier points against Super Four teams carry through. That is not a bad idea since otherwise those earlier games would have been completely pointless. However obviously Sri Lanka had it easy with 2 of their four games against Bangladesh. I think it would have been better to drop the two minnows and have the four play each other twice.

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first. They are 24/1 in the 5th over.

And Afridi has finally been dropped.

Indeed. Can't remember the last time I was so disinterested in an ODI series involving India.
I agree. Usually I am thoroughly enraptued by every Indian series as I cheer on their opposition with all my heart. In this tournament, however, I really don't mind how badly they get beaten...just as long as they are beaten.

This was exactly what I was telling
