Gower, Chanderpaul (could you imagine the contrast of those 2 batting together?)

1. Compo to 4.
2. Charlie Macartney, Neil Harvey
3. Larwood, Bedser

See Miandad as a better fit at 5 IMO.

Would quite like to see Sangakkara get a run. Next one's a bit of a toss-up but will go back to Harvey.

Waqar and Steyn to open the bowling. No better way to avoid fielding for too long.

I'll call it now since I'm going to be out during the day today and we have two clear leaders for both spots. Neil Harvey wins with 10 votes ahead of Miandad on 7. Next highest voter had just the 3 votes. For the quicks again Roberts and Waqar had 7 votes and the nearest on 4.

Graham Gooch

Proven against the best, and following his career trajectory, is probably old enough now to be averaging 60 with the bat.

Bob Simpson

Average over 50 as an opening bat IIRC, great slipper and handy bowling option.

Richie Benaud

Can contribute with both bat and ball, and will be an obvious candidate for the captaincy with his leadership skills.
