Faisal replaces Inzamam

Banned Inzamam Ul-Haq has been replaced in Pakistan’s Champion’s Trophy squad by Faisal Iqbal.

Iqbal is a 24-year old right handed batsman, who played in the recent Test series against England. He has played 17 ODIs, the last of which was three years ago with little success, averaging just 21.

Inzamam must serve a four game ban for bringing the game into disrepute when his team refused to play at The Oval due to the umpires punishing them for ball tampering.

Had he been kept in the squad he would have been eligible for the final, if Pakistan were to reach it.

This would have left Pakistan with effectively only 13 players in their squad, and no spare batsmen.

The squad will be led by Younis Khan in the tournament in India.
