England remain unchanged

The England selectors have named an unchanged squad for the third and final Test against Sri Lanka starting this Friday at Trent Bridge.

Despite Steve Harmison taking 4 for 43 against Sussex last week, it was decided by the selectors that he should be given more time to fully recover from the shin injury he suffered on England’s tour of India last year.

Michael Vaughan made an excellent come back yesterday in scoring a match winning 67 in the C&G Trophy for Yorkshire in beating Scotland by six wickets. Vaughan has said he wants two to three wickets on the domestic scene before considering a return to the England lineup.

Jon Lewis who missed out on selection for the first two Tests remains with the squad, but is unlikely to make the playing eleven for the third Test with Liam Punklett and Sajid Mahmood both showing a lot of promise.

England Squad
Marcus Trescothick, Andrew Strauss, Alastair Cook, Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood, Andrew Flintoff (captain), Geraint Jones, Liam Plunkett, Matthew Hoggard, Sajid Mahmood, Monty Panesar, Jon Lewis.
