England players fined

England coach Duncan Fletcher has fined a number of players for a “breach of team discipline”, having gone directly to a nightclub in Castries following yesterday’s defeat by New Zealand.

Media activity around the team’s St Lucia base suggests that the players involved were James Anderson, Ian Bell, Jon Lewis and Liam Plunkett.

“The England team management today announced that a number of England players had been fined by the head coach, Duncan Fletcher, after admitting to a breach of team discipline last night,” said England media manager Andrew Walpole.

“The decision followed a team meeting at noon today which was attended by all the players and management.”
