Comets V India- Tame Draw

Virender Sehwag lit up the Manuka Oval with an electrifying 113 in just 78 balls, including 2 sixes and 18 fours.

The Comets declared this morning with their overnight score of 292-8. Sehwag and Dinesh Karthik (97) putting on 158. To the crowds great disappointment the former was caught at the wicket from the bowling of Mark Higgs.

After the dismissal of Sehwag, Karthik and Wasim Jaffer put on a much more sedate 80 before leg spinner Ryan Bulger claimed two quick wickets, first Jaffer for 21 and then Karthik LBW. 241-3, Karthik was the third player in the match dismissed in the 90s.

Despite yet another failure for the out of form Yuvraj Singh (3), India then plodded on to 281-4, before making a token declaration.

The Comets struggled to three for 60 by the close of stumps, with Pankaj Singh claiming 2-21.

As for a form pointer to the makeup for the third Test, it would seem almost certain that Yuvraj Singh will miss out after another two failures in this game.

Sehwag, Jaffer and Karthik all did their chances no harm at all, but in the case of Jaffer it should be noted that there was no Brett Lee in this match.
