Chandana quits internationals

Sri Lanka spin bowler Upul Chandana has quit international cricket saying he has been treated unfairly by selectors.

An emotional Chandana said during a news conference announcing his decision that “I have not been considered even for a place in the Hong Kong Sixes side which goes to prove that the selectors don’t want me in the national side.”

Chandana went onto say “My performances back my credentials, I am still physically fit and have no injuries – I still have plenty of cricket left in me. But if I am not going to be selected to play again for my country I have to look at my future and, after talking to my wife and a few other close friends, I decided the best solution was to concentrate my energies elsewhere.”

Chandana is understood to be in discussions with the Indian Cricket League.
