Butcher Suffers Setback

Mark Butcher’s return from his long-suffering wrist injury has been put back again, with Butcher aiming for a return to action in August.

The Surrey and England batsman has not featured for either club or country this season after injuring himself against South Africa and having surgery early in the year.

The operation was deemed a success however the swelling resulting from it is causing the delay in getting back to action.

Butcher though has not ruled out participating in this summer’s Ashes series which starts on the 21st July, however even if he can reach full fitness in time there will be a number of players vying for the number three spot with Ian Bell, Robert Key and Kevin Pietersen all making strong claims already this summer.
