Buchanan to retire about 2007 WC

Australian coach John Buchanan has announced that he will retire after the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies allowing plenty of time for a replacement to be found.

Buchanan has said he has agreed to retiring after the World Cup with Cricket Australia but has left the door open to continuing in the role should he be required.

Buchanan took over the coaching role from Geoff Marsh after the 1999 World Cup and among his current achievements are guiding Australia to winning the 2003 World Cup and helping shape a world-beating team.

He is also constantly refining the role of coach and introducing more and more technical – and physical – aspects to the game.
