Buchanan has players’ backing

Several Australian players have spoken out in support of their coach John Buchanan, following comments made in British tabloid media by Shane Warne last week.

Adam Gilchrist, who being rested for the DLF Cup in Malaysia at the moment so is at home in Australia, said that while some of Buchanan’s methods “confused” players at first, he has done a very effective job of improving his players as people and with that improving their cricket performance.

Another to back Buchanan is Test opener Justin Langer, who said that Buchanan’s strength is his vision and courage, and that he inspires the players and consistently tries to make them better themselves.

Michael Kasprowicz, who was coached by Buchanan at Queensland before with the Australian side, said that in 1998 Buchanan gave him confidence in his own decision-making ability that has helped him ever since.
