Boucher named captain for ODIs

Mark Boucher has been appointed South African captain for the one-day international tri-series against Sri Lanka and India in Sri Lanka next month.

Boucher replaces Ashwell Prince who is captaining the Test side currently.

Haroon Lorgat, the South Africa convenor of selectors said that Prince didn’t get the role as he has failed to as yet cement a place in the one-day lineup.

South Africa’s injury concerns continue to cause them problems with four key players missing the series in regular captain Graeme Smith, star all-rounders Jacques Kallis and Justin Kemp, and fast bowler Charl Langeveldt.

The first match of the tri-series starts on 14th August between Sri Lanka and South Africa, with each team playing each other twice before a deciding final on 29th August.
