Botham set to receive Knighthood

The Daily Mirror newspaper have reported that former England cricketer Ian Botham is to recieve a Knighthood for his charity work.

Botham played 102 Tests and 116 one-day internationals between 1976 and 1992 and ended his career as one of England’s best ever all-rounders.

Botham has raised over $23 million in 11 lengthy treks for children with cancer and is set to be announced on the Queen’s birthday honours list on June 16.

A civil service source told the Mirror “His selfless charity work is out of this world. No-one, absolutely no-one, deserves an honour more than him.”
