Boje hits out at selectors

Newly retired South African spinner Nicky Boje has come out firing at the Proteas selections policies.

Speaking to the Afrikaans newspaper Rapport, Boje was quite frank in his assessment of the SA selectors and the media, who he felt had treated him quite harshly.

“Enough is enough,” he said, “I’m fed up with reading in newspapers and hearing on a daily basis that I am not good enough, that I am not Warne or Murali.”

“They are good, but take them out of the picture and see what world cricket is left with”

“They treated me poorly” Boje continues, “There was a long build-up to my retirement, but it was still a difficult decision as I feel I still have a lot to offer.”

It has been a difficult week for South African cricket, on the verge of losing a Test to India at home and further controversy with Jacques Kallis refusing to sing the national anthem at the start of matches.

Boje took 100 wickets in 43 Tests and played 115 one-day internationals during his career.
