Bell: We’re hurting

English batsman Ian Bell has described his sides pitiful nine wicket loss against Australia on Friday as one of the lowest points of his career, the BBC reported today.

“You only had to go in the England dressing room and see how much it hurt people. It was pretty distraught and the players were really hurting,” he said.

“This has been a very difficult tour, Australia have been outstanding and we have been nowhere near what we can be.”

Bell, who managed Englands highest score in Adelaide on just 35, said the blame and responsibility was for all the members of the team to shoulder, not just the captain and the coach.

“We’re still one unit. We’re right behind everyone and this has been a difficult tour for everyone,” he said.

“As individuals, we can’t start making excuses. I think all of us have to take the blame for this.”

Even still, Bell maintained that all was not over, citing a possible chance for England to make it into the tri-series finals with three games still remaining.

“We’ve got to put the talk into action and make sure that the next game is a big performance from us.

“There are three games to go to the finals. We can still qualify, every game’s a big one.”
