Bad light frustrates Pakistan

Pakistan were denied another full day of match practice, as bad light and gloomy weather meant that Day 2, alike Day 1 had to be cut short by almost half, in their warm-up match against Board President’s XI in Dharamshala.

Abdul Razzaq was the only tourist who enjoyed some sort of time in the middle, as after the visitors resumed at 165 for 5, his 63 led them to a decent total of 273, though definitely much less than what would have been expected before the start of the match.

Asim Kamal, who looked very promising on Day 1 couldn’t continue his good form, as he fell without adding to his overnight score. Kamran Akmal, who joined Razzaq thereafter threw his bat around, however was bound to fall sooner rather than later. However, that crucial partnership helped Pakistan reach their final total.

The Pakistan bowlers didn’t get much to get cheered up about as DS Jadhav and Mohammed Kaif thwarted any inroads that they could have made after the early wicket picked up by Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, before bad light led to play being called off well before the scheduled closing time.

Pakistan: 273 all out in 67.3 overs
Asim Kamal 43, Abdul Razzaq 63, Kamran Akmal 34, Gagandeep Singh 2/60, SS Paul 2/60, Y Venugopal Rao 3/48
Board President’s XI: 91 for 1 in 22.2 overs
DS Jadhav 30*, M Kaif 42*, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan 1/17
