Back trouble hits Vettori again

Daniel Vettori has again suffered a back problem, this time after his first county game for Warwickshire against Middlesex last week, where he took 0-92.

Vettori has gone for a scan and is awaiting the results, which are due within the next few days.

Warwickshire captain Heath Streak fears the worse with Vettori’s history of back trouble, and said in his weekly column that Warwickshire are almost resigned to losing him.

Black Caps manager Lindsay Crocker is monitoring the situation, and it would now be expected that New Zealand Cricket would call him home no matter what the result of the scan, in the view of trying to manage his injury ahead of the busy 2006/07 season.
