Aussie backup seamers struggling

Michael Kasprowicz, Stuart Clark, and Shaun Tait are all in doubt for the upcoming Ashes series after picking up injuries.

Kasprowicz is in doubt after picking up a back injury and being forced to miss the start of the domestic season, and most likely the first two Ashes Tests.

Clark is also under an injury cloud for the first Ashes Test after he tore a muscle in his thigh, while Shaun Tait is recovering from a troublesome shoulder problem but is expected to be close to full fitness in a couple of weeks.

With these injury worries, it only currently leaves Jason Gillespie and the uncapped Mitchell Johnson as options to partner Glenn McGrath and Brett Lee in the seam bowling department.

Kasprowicz backed his Queensland team mate Mitchell Johnson to take up the third seamers role saying he would “provide a point of difference to that attack, being left-arm, fast and able to swing it.”

The first of five Ashes Tests start at The Gabba in Brisbane on 23th November.
