Atapattu unavailable

Sri Lankan batsman and former captain Marvan Atapattu has made himself unavailable for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, with personal commitments the reason for his decision.

The 36 year old opener was named in Sri Lanka’s Test squad for the three Test matches against their sub-continental neighbours but has ruled himself out. The Sri Lankan Cricket Board had received a letter from Atapattu stating that due to personal commitments he would not be available for the Bangladesh series. According to the letter he will be available for future Sri Lanka series.

Atapattu was in Sri Lanka’s World Cup squad but did not take part in any of the 11 matches during the tournament in March. Kanagan Mathivanan, the secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket said that a replacement will be named shortly.
