Atapattu Retained As Captain

Sri Lanka cricket board have retained the services of Marvan Atapattu as captain for the forthcoming series against West Indies and India.

The 34-year-old has led his country with mixed results in the Test arena over the past year after the resignation of previous captain Hashan Tillakaratne; performances in the shorter version of the game though have been good where he has helped lift Sri Lanka to second in the world rankings in that format of the game.

Sri Lanka and Atapattu are due to play two Tests against the West Indies starting in Caribbean starting on July 15.

India will then join the West Indies and Sri Lanka in a triangular series in early August before Atapattu takes his side to India for five more one-dayers.
