Atapattu faces backlash

Recently recalled Marvan Atapattu could face heavy action from the Sri Lanka board after he pulled out of the Bangladesh series, citing “personal commitments”.

“We will have to see whether he has violated his annual contract. If he has, then we will have to take action,” said board secretary Kanagan Mathivanan of the former captain.

“This tour was a great opportunity for Marvan to get back in the team and we are disappointed that he has made himself unavailable.”

Sri Lanka start their three Test series against Bangladesh next Monday in Colombo.
