Asif suffers further injury blow

Pakistan have been dealt a huge blow ahead of their one-day series against India with the news fast bowler Mohammad Asif will miss the entire ODI series.

Asif, seen as one of the most talented youngsters in world cricket, missed the majority of Pakistan’s recent ODI series against South Africa with an elbow injury and it appears the same recurring problem has dashed any hopes of him taking on India in the shorter format.

“It is a big disappointment, because a tour to India is always important and I wanted to be part of the team,” Asif told the media.

The five match ODI series starts on Monday at Guwahati before the two rivals take each other on for a three match Test series, later in the month.
