Anderson setback for England

England paceman Jimmy Anderson has been taken to a St Lucia hospital with a suspected broken finger.

The injury to Anderson’s little finger on his bowling hand occurred while England were getting in some fielding practice ahead of Friday’s game against New Zealand.

Anderson, after returning home early from the latest tour in Australia with a back complaint, was expected to regain his place in the side despite opposition from Liam Plunkett, Jon Lewis and Sajid Mahmood.

The full extent of the injury is unknown at this present time, so it is not known if he will take his place in Friday’s side or be forced to sit out further games in the competition.
