Akhtar heads home

Shoaib Akhtar has been forced to return home after being ruled out for two weeks because of a hamstring injury on the tour of South Africa.

Akhtar completed his first Test in 11 months at Port Elizabeth where he took figures of 4-36 off 11 overs in the first innings. The hamstring injury he picked up forced him out of the bowling crease for the second innings.

Pakistan communications director Ehsan Malik confirmed what television cameras showed that there was an altercation between Akhtar and coach Bob Woolmer before play on day two. Malik said a disciplinary hearing would be held regarding the matter.

A replacement for Akhtar within the squad has yet to be named.
